1861. Solar Panel Subsidy Scheme 2025, Get ₹25,000–₹60,000 Govt Discount on Rooftop Solar System
- On June 2nd, 2025, the central government reaffirmed subsidy benefits under the rooftop solar initiative (PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana), offering ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 for eligible households installing rooftop solar systems.
- The scheme targets Indian citizens aged 18 and above, providing 20%–50% subsidy depending on solar capacity (up to 5 kW), enabling affordable, self-reliant, and eco-friendly electricity generation at home.

1862. Goa becomes India's second fully literate state under ULLAS Scheme
- Under the New India Literacy Program, also known as ULLAS-Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram, Goa has been formally proclaimed a fully literate state.
- The announcement was made by Chief Minister of Goa on May 30, 2025, at the 39th Statehood Day celebrations at Panaji's Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir.
- With this accomplishment, Goa becomes the second Indian state to surpass the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's 95% literacy target. The state has joined the national effort to attain universal literacy by 2030.
- The PLFS Report 2023–24 states that Goa's literacy, Goa's literacy rate stood at 93.60%, among the highest in the country. However, the state’s recent survey shows that Goa has now crossed this mark and achieved full literacy.
- Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society, or ULLAS, is a central government program that will run from 2022 to 2027. It targets adults who are at least 15 years old and unable to attend or finish school.
1863. UPI transactions rebound in May with 18.68 bn payments; 33% yearly surge
- On 1 June 2025 it was reported that, UPI processed 18.68 billion transactions worth ₹25.14 lakh crore in May 2025, marking a 33% YoY growth in volume and 23% in value.
- The rebound follows a dip in April due to service disruptions, including a major outage on April 12 caused by excessive API requests from banks.
- NPCI has issued new API usage guidelines to banks and payment providers to prevent future system overloads and ensure stable UPI performance.

1864. Amit Shah inaugurates new building of Central Forensic Science Laboratory near Kolkata
- In Rajarhat, Kolkata Union Home Minister inaugurated the new Central Forensic Science Laboratory building to strengthen forensic and investigative infrastructure in eastern and northeastern India on 01 June 2025.

- According to a report by McKinsey & Company and BoF, published on 31 May, 2025, India will experience the fastest global increase in ultra-high-net-worth individuals, with their population expected to surge by 50% between 2023 and 2028.
- India’s luxury market is projected to grow significantly, driven by new luxury malls, demographic shifts, and higher import taxes encouraging domestic spending.
- India has overtaken Japan with a nominal GDP exceeding USD 4 trillion, while Japan’s luxury market growth remains moderate at 6-10%.

1866. Arunachal CM lays foundation of Rs 750 cr education infrastructure projects
- On May 31, 2025, Arunachal Pradesh CM virtually laid the foundation for Rs 750 crore worth of education infrastructure projects, to be executed by the Rural Works Department and completed within the current financial year.
- The projects include Rs 300 crore to upgrade 39 government higher secondary schools under the SASCI scheme, Rs 322 crore for 156 hostels and teachers’ quarters, Rs 71.40 crore for 14 high-capacity hostels under DAJGUA, and Rs 9 crore for 60 bachelor barracks in rural schools.
- Additional allocations involve Rs 30 crore for infrastructure at Arunachal University in Pasighat and Rs 23.64 crore for 394 kitchen sheds-cum-stores under the PM Poshan scheme, aligning with the Shikshit Arunachal 2029 Mission.

1867. NISE, NSEFI sign MoU for renewable energy collab
- On May 30, 2025, the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish an incubation centre aimed at boosting innovation and entrepreneurship in areas like solar energy, green hydrogen, and emerging renewable energy technologies.
- Dr Mohammad Rihan, director general of NISE, and Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of NSEFI, formalised the partnership in the presence of Santosh Kumar Sarangi, secretary of the ministry of new and renewable energy, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan.
- India is aiming to achieve the 500 GW non-fossil fuel energy target by 2030, including 292 GW of solar energy. The incubation centre is expected to play a vital role in supporting India's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and establishing itself as a global leader in renewable energy innovation.

- On May 30, 2025, Chief economic adviser said robust domestic demand has supported GDP growth and private consumption share has risen to the highest level since FY04
- The Jan-March 2025, quarter data showed the farm sector remaining robust with growth of 5.4% while the construction sector grew 10.8% in the same period.
- The services sector remained steady at 7.3% in the March quarter compared with an expansion of 7.8% in the 2025 earlier quarter.

1869. DRDO signs licensing agreement with NIBE Ltd for Pinaka MBRL and Battery Command Post
- On May 30, 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) signed a Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology (LAToT) with NIBE Limited for the Pinaka Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) and the Battery Command Post (BCP).
- The agreement aims to strengthen the industrial base for the development and manufacturing of indigenous defence equipment.
- Designed to launch 12 rockets from a stationary, inclined position, the system offers swift deployment and exceptional accuracy, making it highly effective against time-sensitive and critical enemy threats.
1870. PM Modi lays foundation stone of City Gas Distribution project for West Bengal districts
- On May 29, 2025, in Alipurduar, West Bengal, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas laid the foundation stone for a ₹1,010 crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) project to supply piped gas to over 2.5 lakh households and establish 19 CNG stations.
- CGD project aims to reduce dependence on LPG cylinders, promote affordable clean fuel, and generate employment by extending reliable gas supply to homes, commercial units, and transport sectors in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar.
- City Gas Distribution (CGD) project is part of a nationwide expansion of gas infrastructure under the Urja Ganga Project, reflecting the central government’s push for a gas-based economy and doorstep delivery of energy solutions.
